Joel's Story
Avid Storyteller
Not too long ago, Joel was told he had vocal cord cancer, a terrifying diagnosis for anyone, but especially for someone who is as talkative and animated as he is. Right away, he was scheduled for seven weeks of radiation therapy at California Pacific Medical Center.
The first time he walked into the Oncology Department, he was surprised that instead of feeling anxious, he found himself instantly at ease. The nurses, staff, and the overall calming environment took away his fears and gave him the confidence to face radiation. The oncology team informed Joel of the many complementary therapies available to him, like counseling and a variety of health and healing services. In fact, he ended up finding himself thinking how nice it would be to work there. Now, Joel is cancer-free and his vocal cords are as good as ever. Oh, and he has a new job. He's a radiation support assistant in the Oncology Department at California Pacific Medical Center.
