April's Story
Wine Connoisseur
In preparation for a trip to China last year, April had a physical at California Pacific Medical Center. During the routine exam, the doctor heard a slight murmur in her heartbeat. Further tests confirmed that she would need immediate surgical attention. It was a frightening and unexpected diagnosis for both April and her parents. However, her cardiologist and surgeon were so thorough with their evaluation and explanations that everyone felt safe and confident moving forward.
Together, they made the decision to do noninvasive robotic heart surgery, an option that would repair April's heart while making only tiny incisions under her arm using California Pacific's state-of-the-art DaVinci Robot. The surgery lasted for eight hours, during which April's parents were constantly reassured by informative and empathetic nurses. Believe it or not, she was out of the hospital three days later without a single stitch, and ready to toast to her health with her family, friends and a good bottle of wine.
