Community Outreach Task Force Updates

April 14, 2008

The Community Outreach Task Force held its fourth successful meeting on Monday, April 14th.

Since its last meeting on March 17th, the Task Force has held two Public Discussions - one in the Mission, and one in the Excelsior - to gather input from the community. Additionally, the Task Force has interviewed various neighborhood groups, the St. Luke’s Hospital staff, and health professionals throughout the city to diversify their community feedback.

During the fourth meeting, the Task Force reflected on the feedback they had received in the Public Discussions and interviews. The Task Force drafted a final report, and discussed how they will present their report to the Blue Ribbon Panel. The Task Force is looking forward to submitting a final report to the Blue Ribbon Panel on May 8th, 2008 at the Mission Bay Conference Center.

That evening, the Task Force held their first Public Discussion at the Bayview/Hunter’s Point YMCA. The Community Outreach Task Force held its second successful meeting on Monday March 10th. The Task Force was pleased to welcome Ahsha Safai, Gladys Sandlin and Jim Salinas, further adding to its diverse community representation.

In their meeting, the Task Force engaged in discussion and debate on how St. Luke's campus is currently used by the community, and is looking forward to hearing directly from the community at the Public Discussion event on March 17th.

The Public Discussion will be held at the Bayview/Hunter's Point YMCA, on 1601 Lane Street from 6:30-8:00 PM. This is one of the many excellent opportunities for the community to engage directly with the Task Force. The Task Force eagerly awaits this event.
